About us

Welcome to Apna Farm

Urban food scarcity in South Asia has been a persistent problem for decades. With over 300 million South Asians suffering from undernourishment, it is clear that conventional methods are not enough to tackle this issue. To solve this problem, I brought together diverse fields of study, such as engineering, agriculture, and economics. After consulting with biologists, I discovered soil-free hydroponic farming systems as a viable solution. I used my engineering background to develop low-cost, open-source designs for such a system using CAD software.

We are a community garden that uses hydroponics.

I established Apna Farm, a non-profit organization that installs prefabricated hydroponic farms on urban buildings. This initiative provides fresh produce to families within the building and sells excess crops to cover operational costs. This innovative solution involves machine learning algorithms and customized electronics, challenging the conventional notion that high-tech solutions are unsuitable for underdeveloped problems. In this project, technology integration is an example of how innovation can help address social and environmental issues.

Apna Farm

Apna Farm is a provider of hydroponic farming equipment for individuals and communities. The equipment enables soil-free planting using nutrient solutions and water, making it an ideal solution for areas with limited access to water or fertile land. The state-of-the-art equipment allows for year-round cultivation of fresh produce, promoting sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint of transporting food from distant places.

Our mission at Apna Farm is to promote environmentalism and empower individuals economically. We offer affordable rental options, allowing underprivileged communities and individuals to start small businesses and generate income. This economic empowerment improves their quality of life, stimulates local economies, and contributes to a more sustainable future.

By renting out our hydroponic farming equipment, we help individuals and communities establish self-sufficient food production systems and promote sustainable agriculture. Our equipment is designed to provide an efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional farming methods, reducing water consumption and increasing crop yields. Our services aim to promote eco-friendly living and encourage sustainable farming practices.
